I remember like it was yesterday.Pete Millerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15286138289583691793noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4722086039797414828.post-14265096147341149732020-04-26T21:29:38.896-04:002020-04-26T21:29:38.896-04:00Hi Pete. Thanks for sharing your story.I happen to find your webpage looking up info on WIOF.I was a big fan of WIOF W104 back in the mid 1970's until they changed formats in 1978. I do remember hearing you on the station then...Luckily I had my recorder available to capture the music sounds ,Jingles and talent " Including some of Mr Shea's countdown show" of W104 up to before the end.Still have the tapes today somewhere here....

Going by memory and apologize for errors and omitted info with my info.

It was sad to see the station to change formats and left a void for no FM country station in its listening area until WWYZ Country 92.5 signed on in 1988.I could not pick up WCTY out of Norwich .At that time there was no radio internet streaming and had to rely on out of state stations like WHN NYC ,WWVA West Virginia and WSM Nashville on the AM dial On the FM dial WKHK and later WYNY NYC as others here in Connecticut with their short stints with the country music format WNTY Now Kool 990/96.1 , 1220 WSCR was last WQUN before they signed off altogether last year with their oldies format...

I've seen the old building many times as I go to my eye doctors office in Cheshire as I wonder whats going on with the old building today..

Thanks for the info Pete....
